The Modern Jobsite Is Becoming a Data Source

Construction Documentation
Drone imagery is becoming much more than a way to get an impressive aerial photo of a construction site. More project teams are using recurring aerial capture to create a visual record of how a site changes over time — from site preparation and earthwork through vertical construction and completion.
From photos to project records
A single aerial image provides context that can be difficult to see from the ground. A consistent series of images captured throughout a project creates something more valuable: a visual timeline.
Owners, contractors and project managers can quickly see what changed between capture dates, review site conditions and communicate progress with stakeholders who may never visit the site in person. The key is consistency. Similar viewpoints, planned flight paths, clear capture dates and organized file delivery make aerial imagery much easier to compare and use.
More than photography
Depending on the project, drone capture can also support deliverables such as:
progress photography
aerial video
2D orthomosaic maps
3D site models
before-and-after comparisons
organized project archives
Not every project needs every deliverable. For some teams, recurring high-resolution photographs are enough. Others may benefit from a complete top-down site map or a 3D visual model. The goal is not to collect as much data as possible. It is to collect the right information for the way the project team works.
The drone is only the tool
The real value of commercial aerial documentation happens after the flight.
Can the project manager quickly find imagery from a particular date?
Can an owner understand current site conditions without driving to the project?
Can two capture periods be compared easily?
Can the visuals be used in reports, meetings or stakeholder updates?
When aerial capture is planned around those questions, it becomes part of the project workflow rather than simply another folder of photos.
